Resistencia Timorense arquivo & museo / Rezistensia Timorense arkivu &muzeu
Resistencia Timorense arquivo & museo / Rezistensia Timorense arkivu & muzeu, a photo by ellen forsyth on Flickr.
There was a large touch screen display where you could see archival photographs for different areas. This was navigated by a subject tree (and you could choose the language it was shown in). This was a good way to navigate and to see what subject matter was covered. There were very interesting photograph. It would have been helpful if there was even a basic caption or title for each photograph, but no doubt that can be added in the future.
One of the options on the computer was a cartoon with an older man telling the history of the last fort years to children It was done in the form of him answering their questions. It was interesting to see the way that this was done, and the angle they took for interpreting the history.
It was a very interesting museum and archive. You can find out more about if from its website.
No photography was permitted inside.

I will be in Timor Leste / East Timor for the next three months
Today I am at my usual place of work. From tomorrow morning until late January, I will be in Dili, working in a government department, organising their library and training their staff. I appreciate that my current employer is giving me leave without pay for this time.
I was in East Timor almost eleven years ago for my previous employer who helped put a library in Maliana. This photograph shows what much of Maliana looked like in 2002.
Some of my photographs of that library are in the slideshow below.

Patrick Rothfuss and The story board
Patrick Rothfuss, author of The wise man's fear and The name of the wind, has started a Geek and sundry series of videos called The story board. In these videos Patrick Rothfuss talks with leading writers about some really interesting ideas. These videos would be great for people to use for readers advisory professional development.
The authors are key writers in different (mostly fantasy based) genres, talking about writing. They also seem to be having a lot of fun. It is also a way of demonstrating what can be done with a Google hangout. Enjoy.
